Monday, August 18th, 2008

Good morning,

As everyone goes and returns from summer vacation, I want to wish you all a fabulous, healthy and joyous time. The weather has been divine, and I hope you have been enjoying it! We are CLOSED for vacation as of this wednesday and won’t be back until after labor day. So just 2 days this week! Order a few to last through the week if you like.

Relax. Don’t do it.

It sure is hot this summer. All the more reason to take a day off and spend some quality time with you. Get to the gym for that class you never get to take. Make an appointment with your hairdresser and aesthetician. Get reflexology and have your kidneys, brain and stomach rubbed from the pods of your feet. Or, just sit under a shady tree in the park and indulge in a good book. Also, get your dinners delivered to your door so your oven can stay off and your diet can stay on.

On that note, The Regal Vegan is closed for inventory today, and will reopen tomorrow, August 12. Next week we are only open Monday-Wednesday, and closed from aug 21-Sept 4.

Have a regal week!

5 Cool Tips

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I like Summer in the city. It really gives you an opportunity to enjoy the gifts of NY. Of course, getting away gives you the chance to see it with new eyes, if you choose to. I encourage you to see everything with new eyes this week. Take a moment to appreciate the godliness in the center of a flower, the zen in a seashell and the perfection in a piece of watermelon.

That said, it is HOT out there! Here are The Regal Vegan’s 5 Stay-Cool Tips for August:

1. Abandon yourself to the cool trickle of a park sprinkler or the local open fire hydrant

2. Spend 30 minutes in the Sauna to raise your tolerance for the heat and detoxify. NY will seem all the more tolerable.

3. Wear loose clothing. I know, crazy to imagine tossing the skin-tight tank, but a loose fitting Indian-inspired kurta top was designed to keep you cool by covering you from the sun and responding kindly to any wind in the air to provide a personal cooling system.

4. Keep some sliced watermelon in the fridge and have it whenever you feel overheated, hungry or tired. It’s a perfect low calorie, anti-oxidant rich snack that not only quenches your thirst, but fills you with energy due to a hight B vitamin content.

5. Brew some green tea, cool and fill ice cube trays with it to make your next glass of iced-tea a powerful antioxidant that rehydrates as well as water but doesn’t actually get watered down. Flavor with Agave Nectar to make a perfect summer beverage.

We will be closed for 2 weeks starting August 20th, reopening September 4th. Be sure to get your Regal Vegan fix in before then!

Much love,
Ella
