Everything’s coming up green

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

I know you’ve noticed – everything is greener! There are flowers on the trees, your block suddenly looks downright Suburban and you’re craving the outdoors. Your body knows it, too. It’s craving some fresh spring greenery, and that’s what we’re cooking up this week. Try some vegetables you may have never had before – like fiddlehead ferns or daylilies. Made my mother earth herself.

Food: A Gathering

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Everywhere in the world families gather to celebrate, and food is certain to be the centerpiece. This week’s menu is predicated on mother nature’s most powerful manifestation of health, wealth and abundance: Her spring vegetables.

Hope you enjoy this week’s menu: (Note for Passover observers – no wheat or yeast is used in any of our recipes)

Bodies on Strike

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Our bodies, much like our pets, alert us when they feel like they need to be eating something different. Sometimes, they get sick. Other times, they get overly tired. They’ve even been known to go on strike and fail us entirely to get the attention they need. This week, give your body a chance to move with the seasons into lighter, healthier fare that rewards the body for all it’s doing for us.

Turn down the Heavy Metals

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Your body has been doing an amazing job processing all the heavy metals and toxins we are exposed to. Ah, city living. Give it a break this week by having more of a free luxury: Water. Filtered or bottled, just do it often.

To really give your body and skin a boost, go easy on your liver. Give it less toxic food and more organic, natural foods – free of pesticides, avoid chemicals and increase your intake of whole foods and vegetables. This week’s menu is a great place to start.
